About Us
Edla is from Raleigh and has lived in Wake County most of her adult life. She received her undergraduate degree in Early Childhood and Middle School Education from Western Carolina University and obtained her Masters of Education degree in Counselor Education from East Carolina University.
Edla is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) and Registered Play Therapist (RPT). For more than 30 years, Edla has counseled children and adults of all ages, and trained and consulted with parents, teachers and community volunteers.
Edla is trained in Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and EMDR. She enjoys taking research based philosophies and sharing the information in a pragmatic way with children and adults. She believes this enables them to “flip” their thinking and actions for positive change.
Edla is currently developing a new program Called One-Eighty: When the Parental Roles Reverse for adult children of aging parents. She lives in Apex with her husband and enjoys spending time with her family and traveling.
Elizabeth grew up in Edenton, North Carolina. She graduated from Meredith College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and a teaching certificate. After teaching middle and high school social studies, Elizabeth obtained her Masters of Education in Counselor Education from North Carolina State University and worked with WCPSS for over 30 years.
Elizabeth is a Licensed Certified Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) and Registered Play Therapist (RPT). Elizabeth is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR and Motivational Interviewing. In addition to her role with Flip Consulting & Counseling, Elizabeth works at Project Enlightenment as a parent counselor.
Elizabeth enjoys the challenge of using current best-practice techniques and theory to support children and families in ways that are relevant to them. She desires to meet families, children, and adolescents where they are, building on strengths to facilitate growth.
Elizabeth lives in Raleigh with her husband and dog, and they enjoy traveling and spending time with their adult children. She enjoys practicing yoga, exercising and singing in her spare time.
